This forum uses a simple BB code editor to make text, arguments and posts more interesting and interactive. Follow the steps below to get the most out typing your posts:
1. Most text is usually made by selecting text and then pressing one of the buttons above to edit that portion of text. For example:
I like to eat fish<---this is normal text.
I like to eat fish<---I select the text.
I like to eat fish<---I press the 'B' button to make this text what it is now, bold.
This format can be applied to bold, italicize, underline, strikethrough, subscript, superscript, bullets and lining up text to a position (justifying).
2. The other option to this is to use actual BB code.
I can make "My father likes eating bananas" bold by doing this: {b}My father likes eating bananas{/b} Note: The curly brackets are actually square brackets.
3. Tables are easy ways to organize groups of data in the BB code editor but they are a bit more complex. Pressing the table button will show you an interface with options concerning rows, columns, callspacing and borders. Only worry about the rows and columns as text will always format to fit the boxes in the table. Once done, press 'Insert Table' and a whole bunch of confusing code comes up. Don't let this scare you. It's actually very easy to edit the code once you get used to it. The formatter automatically tells you the location of your data by putting text in the boxes showing you their locations. Simply edit this text to put data where you want it in the table.
4. You can edit the font and font size by following the 1st step only using the beginning drop-down menus above.
5. If you want to add images, add an attachment by clicking 'Add Attachment' located to the right of the Subject box. Upload the image to the website and then click on the image you would like to use for your post (or use Ctrl to select multiple images). Then click on 'Insert' to add it to your post and it will insert the full-size image in the post. You will know if it is inserted in the right place if it has the square brackets with data inside it containing an ID.If you add an attachment but don't insert it into the post, it will be automatically put in the bottom of your post. This is an example of an inserted image:
You have a limit of uploading only 3 files at a time per post. The grandmaster also manages the forums entire storage and if it gets too full, he can delete stuff to get it under the limit again. There is also an option of donations but that will be looked into in the future if it becomes a problem.
Other than videos, most other types of media can be uploaded by scrolling through the buttons to the right of the justification buttons. Simply follow the instructions to complete setup of your media and inserting into your post. If you are unsure as to how to insert the media into the post, its probably an attachment that you can add, so use the attachment button
This concludes the basic BB code editor tutorial. If I've missed anything or you need help on anything not explained here, send me a PM or a reply to this thread and I'll look into it. Happy typing everyone!
P.S. You can look at a preview of your post before inserting it into the thread by pressing 'Preview' at the footer of your post box. This way you can see exactly what you are typing and inserting. You may also edit your post at any time if you feel you are unsure about something specifically.
